Trade Show Planning:
Determine Exhibitor Staffing Needs

6-3 MONTHS TO GO. PRE-SHOW ACTIVITIES.

It is now time to determine the number and types of team members you will need to staff your booth. You will most likely start with members of your sales and marketing teams. You may then want to select additional staff based on the show's attendee demographics.

For example, show attendees with Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, network administrator, and engineer titles are technically knowledgeable and will have technology-related questions. It is advisable to include a sales engineer or technical member of your product development team to answer more technical questions.

If the show's purpose is to attract businesses that will resell your products and services to their customers, you should ask your sales channel manager or VP of channel sales to participate.

In addition to your own company’s employees, determine if you will need any extra staff such as a receptionist to act as a greeter while your company’s employees are busy closing sales.
