Why I’m Trading Social Media for ‘My Notebook’
I've finally made the decision. I'm pulling the plug on the social media circus.
Starting on page one using an old journal with a new purpose. I’ve cleaned off my porch table and have my coffee at hand.
As an author, advisor, strategist, and storyteller, my life is built on words and making the complex easy to understand, but social platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, and others feel so hollow and transactional.
I'm tired of being a data point in an algorithm. I want to be a person again who talks to you like a neighbor, not a 'follower.'
So, I'm moving everything here, to this spot I'm calling My Notebook. Because that's exactly what it is. No filters. Just me sitting at my desk, or in a coffee shop, or on the beach, sharing what's on my mind.
This is our place where I give you a peek into who I really am.
If I'm struggling with a chapter in my next book, I'll tell you. If I'm out doing advocacy work and see something that moves me, I'll post it here. I want to take you along on my travels, show you the research I'm digging into, and share some of the mystery story character ideas that are rattling around in my brain. Maybe I'll name a character after you!
It's going to be a bit stream-of-consciousness. Not polished. Not perfect. Just me. I might post a photo of my garden when the tulips appear or tell you about a nice walk I took this morning. These are things you'd talk about with your good friend next door and that's the vibe I'm going for. I want us to be able to share with one another in a way that's more substantial than a fleeting Facebook or Instagram post.
And, while I'm the one sharing these glimpses into my world, I really do want you to be part of it. I want you to jump into the comments when something resonates with you. Tell me what you're thinking or what's making you smile today.
So, this is my new version of social media. It's a little slower, a lot more personal, and way more me.
Consider this an open invitation. Swing by whenever you want to see what's up. Check in on the latest project or see where I've traveled lately. Leave a comment and let me know you were here.
I'm so excited to finally have a space where we can actually get to know each other without all that digital noise in the way. It's good to be home, right here on my own site, and I can't wait to hear from you.
With love and gratitude.
