Trade Show Planning:
Requesting a Variance

3 MONTHS TO GO. PRE-SHOW ACTIVITIES.

Each trade show has many rules and regulations that exhibitors must follow. They include regulations on your booth height, hanging banners from the ceiling, custom lighting, installation dates and times, and so much more.

The important thing to know is that if you have a problem with one of these rules - for example, your booth structure is 2 feet taller than the maximum booth height - you can submit a request for a variance to show management. In this example, the variance would give you permission to install a booth which is taller than the show-approved maximum booth height.

If show management believes you have a legitimate request which does not adversely affect other exhibitors, the variance may be granted.

It never hurts to ask.
