Trade Show Planner: Electrical Services

Your 12 month trade show checklist

Reserving electrical services is just one task in a large checklist you’ll need to complete as a trade show exhibitor. Review my entire pre-show, on-site, and post-show checklist of exhibitor planning activities.

Trade Show Planning:
Reserve Electrical Services

2 MONTHS TO GO. PRE-SHOW ACTIVITIES.

You will notice that I have separated the purchase of some of the booth materials into the previous section, 3 months prior, and this section, 2 months prior. The items included here have an impact on your booth layout as well as its look and feel. Things like flooring options and booth accessories must be decided upon earlier to ensure the booth has a cohesive look and you do not have too many or too few items in the booth.

If your booth needs electricity you will be required to order it from the show decorator.

Find the electrical service order form in the Exhibitor Services Manual or Show Guide you received and make sure to place your order before the pre-show deadline. It is common for you to receive a 20-40% discount on electrical services if you get the paperwork in before their deadline.

Depending on the complexity of your booth, you may be required to include with your order a drawing of your booth showing where the electrical drops need to be.

If you have purchased or rented a booth from an exhibit house, you may want to ask for their help in completing this form.

Note that electrical requirements and restrictions can be different from state to state and venue to venue. Depending on the location and venue, you may be required to order extension cords from electrical services rather than bringing your own.
