Cross Aisle

A cross aisle is a pathway or small aisle that intersects a larger main aisle on the exhibit floor. This small aisle is usually shorter and narrower than a main aisle and may appear as if it is splitting a long linear or inline row of booths in half. It creates a grid-like layout, helping facilitate traffic flow for attendees who can efficiently navigate between different booths and sections of the show, resulting in a better event experience.

As you can see in the floor plan layout below, a cross aisle may also be located between an island booth and linear, end-cap or peninsula booths. In this case it splits the 20 x 40 ft. island booth and the 20 x 20 ft. split island booth.

What is a Cross Aisle Booth?

An exhibitor booth is considered a cross aisle booth when it spans both sides of a cross aisle. For example, if a cross aisle occurs in the middle of a row of linear or in-line booths, the exhibitor would need to purchase the linear booth space to the left and right of the cross aisle. The exhibitor would then have a 10 x 20 ft. booth space which is split in half.

If the cross aisle occurs between larger booths like in the layout above, the exhibitor would be required to purchase the island booth and the split island booth to have a cross aisle booth.

The benefit of a cross aisle booth is that hanging exhibitor graphics can often be used to visually connect both booths and attendees appear to walk through the exhibitor’s booth. This can result in more interaction with exhibitor staff.
