What is Visqueen?
Visqueen is the brand name for polyethylene sheeting manufactured by British Polythene Industries Limited based in the United Kingdom.
What is it used for?
Due to its thickness and durability, Visqueen plastic can be used in many ways including as a tarp to protect items from damage, on the ground as a vapor barrier, and as a drop cloth to prevent damage from paint spills.
In the case of trade show booth installation, it is used as a cover over new carpet or other flooring in an exhibitor booth.
This heavy duty plastic sheeting protects the floor from damage and dirt as a result of equipment and personnel constantly walking and rolling equipment over it to construct the booth during installation. The plastic is removed shortly before the show begins.

Visqueen for your trade show carpet.
This plastic covering is normally purchased by the exhibitor from the show decorator or the company providing the carpet rental, if it is a different provider. An exhibitor renting show carpet often purchases the plastic covering at the same time. However, an exhibitor that ships their own custom flooring along with their booth to the show, may decide to just order the plastic from the show decorator.
Expert tip:
You can choose to order Visqueen from the show decorator but it is not required. You can actually buy generic plastic covering from any company that sells it and ship it, along with your booth, to the show.
The company you hire to complete your booth installation will be the ones to lay the sheeting over your flooring after it is installed.
